It's crazy man. If you think about it the stuff is made of COPPER. Copper is heavy. If you have 10 coats of the stuff it starts to really ad up. You can lose weight and get economy back by getting a slick new bottom.

Troy told me about a 40' Bertram where they stripped almost 500 POUNDS of old paint with the soda blast.

The boat got almost 2 KNOTS in speed back! Guys with big boats spend tens of thousands trying to get that kind of performance.

Pretty cool stuff.

Troy did say that the bottom will end up with a dull finish though, so don't expect it to look like a new boat hull. Depending on how thick the gelcoat is ,you may end up with some gelcoat repairs. No big deal if you are going to repaint the bottom anyways.

After soda blasting, you should apply an Epoxy barrier coat if after blasting, the gelcoat is compromised from what Ive read.
