The guy told me that the prop thats on there now matches the speed to RPMs IE 35kts is 3500rpm.
3500 rpm 35knts??

that doesn't sound right.

My 20 w/350/VP tops out at 32kts doesn't matter what prop I run. I'm currently running a 3x16x17, It's slightly too much prop but I never exceed 3200rpm's, anotherwords, I nurse it. I get more range that way. WOT for me brings about 4900rpm's

I seriously doubt that your skippy will do 42kts, don't feel something is wrong when it won't get going faster than 30 kts, it's perfectly normal, the important thing is rpm's @ wide open throttle, make sure and make a note of it and report back, im curious about the performance your going to get, mine is a 79 so our hulls are identical, as well as the outdrive, I want to see if something is wrong with mine. If you pull 42kts with a 302, than I have issues.

Also, you'll hear people dog the fact that the deck is not a scupper type, and yes scuppers are sweet, but our boats are designed beautifully, the water is channeled in a way to prevent any water going where is should not go. you really start to appreciate the boat once you start to remove the hatches and see how the boat is designed, they really are bitchen boats.

Yea I went out there and washed her today and man what a sweet ride. I found an extra prop, flair gun kit, about 5 fire extinguishers, life jackets, Very well built, I can wait to see how awesome it rides. Going to put a Garmin 540s, extra bilge pump, and trial run next week. Here are a few pics:

Cuddy. Yea its gonna be a tight fit...

Engine. Im going to replace the orig starter. Starts perfect now but sounds like a tractor starter

fish hold. can wait to de-virginize this. Im pretty sure it was never used since all that was in there was a spare prop and a hose. Anyways going to put a pump out on this in the near future

side shot. some guy is coming to buff it out next week. gelcoat is great with only a couple of minor scratches. easy fix

I took the engine cover cushion off. Im sure it doesnt take well to fish blood and lobster guts. going to get some nonskid cleaner for the deck

My other baby from 1981. Long story short my grandma got this new in 81 and parked it in 91. I finally got her to give it up this year. Im ass backwards: Diesel car and gas powered truck and boat
