its gonna be a while before i can get any kind of eisenglass going. I need to get a tower made first, my pops has a fab guy who ows him some cash so maybe we can work out a deal. Im not looking forward to rides back from cat getting soaked

marcus what kind of motor combo you running? whats your speed and mpg? I see that you went down to the 1010 so you must have range like a mofo!

also can you guys post some pics of your bait setup? looking for ideas but most likely going with a bait bag until I can afford a real setup before next summer. Thanks!
mine is a 79, it has the vp280(new style, anti flap on inside of bellow) mated to the 5.7, you can search my post, I replaced the engine a few seasons ago. I get a solid 2.5mpg and that is from my flow scan at the end of my trips. I think I have posted pics before on the setup i'm running.

the helm chairs are ontop of 18gal fuel cells. this gives me plenty of range.

bait tank is on top of the belly tank cover.

this setup works good for me.

OK just got it home. we literally had to use go jacks to wedge it out of the old guys back yard. Some cool info he gave me:

original skipjack owners manual
original volvo engine manual
picture of the original owner with a 200+ marlin from 1964
original work order for the boat signed by Jack Cole
engine tune up and outdrive rebuild reciept with 0 hours on it

The boat was built by Jack Cole for his friend who died. The boat was willed to the guy I got it from. I literally got the boat 2 blocks from where it was build in Newport. Anyways enough of the rambling heres the shitty night time pics...im super stoked on this boat!!

I'll get some pics up once I solve the upload prob I'm having. Yes its a V-8 GM 350. Standard ignition, Qjet carb. Easy to troubleshoot and wrench on. I think the 20 Skip has pretty good engine access for wrenching and whatnot compared to other set ups. Btw....nice ride...congrats.

Congratulations... Finding a boat of that age that doesn't have a zillion fastener holes in it and a bunch of bad modifications is rare. Now, straighten the girlfriend out and show her who's Captain!!!
