Question Remove caulking from my deck? Not cocking.

My new to me boat has caulking on the deck that the previous owner used to seal hatches and covers. It is too dirty looking for me, but the shit is hard as a rock and I don't want to damage my deck. Any ideas on methods or products to take it off?
Thanks.

Try scoring a line carfully with a short razor knife, follow up with a rigid plastic scraper.

I did the same thing. I also found a flathead screwdriver that was the same size as the track that the caulking was in. I gently carefully worked the crap out. Shitty job, but still better than removing 25 year old vinyl on the water line!

Try soaking the caulk with alcohol.......and scraping carefully is the way to go........

#4 Hot Knife Kit

This is really for taking the caulk out from between deck planks. I had one for recaulking my sailboat decks. It works 'ok'. A razor knife and a heat gun work pretty well too. Make a jig for a small router or dremel to clean it all out.

Defender also has some chemical stuff but I've never tried it.

I've came across this product. Sounds promising for your application. They claim to remove 3M 5200 adhesive.

DeBond Corp-Marine Formula

Good Luck!
