Don't rule out making a little chin piece on the deck to reduce the windshield size. Fwd swept windows are a good move to keep spray from accumulating on the glass as well, they tend to drain better.
For safety, smaller windows are better. Ideally you will make it 3 panel, and have the windows as small as is practical. Good visibility is paramount, but smaller windows are safer in a big seaway.
Many, or most, of the boats you see in commercial use up here in Wa State and Oregon, running the river bars to get to sea, tend to have the "west coast" style of windshield. Fwd slope, 3 panels on 8' 6" beam boats, with a small chin fairing to help reduce stress of water and wind where the windshield meets the cabin.
