"Forever" this year, DMV workers are seemingly doing a "work slowdown" to protest having to take fridays off sometimes. Guess they aren't fishermen.?
If there is no lien on boat or trailer and they did all the paperwork right maybe 120+days , if they didnt do it right ,much longer, if there is a loan /lien then bank gets pinks. but once done new computer renewal via internet and cred card is zippity split. if its been a whiel call dealer and check or call dmv if dealer doesent know.

dmv should be eliminated, any money they make the state is lost to the ineffeciency of there employees.state workers(most) dont have a dam clue as to how to properly do their job, mostly due to poor management.private enterprise could do it 1000 times better.

Private enterprise...what a crock of shit. This would be the same private enterprise that has f'd over our country during the past two years. Let's think of some names....AIG, every investment house and nearly every bank... Enough on that subject. Any time I need DMV docs faster I make an appointment on the web and go down to buy a duplicate set. Usually costs $10. Tell them you lost the copy that was sent to you. Works for me.

If the dealer has title on the boat he can do your DMV work in 1 day. We have to go to a DMV in Placentia for dealers only where we can do our transfers right away. The DMV will issue the registration in the new owners name and give it to the dealer if all the documents are in order, the dealer then sends the reg to the new owner. Once the reg is done DMV should send you your title about a week later. It may take time if the boat you bought was a repo or a trade in with a payoff because the dealer might not have title from the original lien holder yet, but you stated that it was a new boat so the dealer should have the MSO (Manufaturer Certificate of Origin) to complete the transfer. How long ago did you buy the boat?

September 1st. We trade in a boat and handed them the pink slip
and we purchased a new boat. I agree, we should have our tittle
by now. Quote:

by now. | If you bought the new boat in all cash/trade deal the dealer might be "floating" your money/trade. If the dealer had the boat "floored", which is like a line of credit for inventory, and had a grace period before he had to pay it off, and because you didn't finance it so there's no rush to provide a new title to a bank, he may be dragging his feet a little getting to the title. Couple that with a trade he may hope to sell in order to cover some of his costs of the new boat. I'm not saying he did, just stuff like that happens.
Frankly, 4-6 weeks is an expected transfer period, barring errors, with the registration usually coming before the new title.
