Need help deciding- gas or diesel?

I already have Chrysler 440 ready to drop into my 25' flybridge Luhrs. BUT, lets say if I could get a GM 6.5 non-turbo for it, which would be better for me? I really can't get out much, but I can get diesel a HELLUVA lot cheaper than gas, I mean way cheaper..... so what would you guys do?

Personally, I'd go with the diesel but throw a turbo charger on in.

Get the diesel, I've never heard an owner of a diesel say that they wished that they were gas powered

Right now, diesel is cheaper than gasoline... Hope that continues!

Dan, If you can find a good diesel in your price range go for it!! Lots of places to look but it has to be in A1 condition!!! Most owners never see a huge difference in the cost of fuel savings because the cost of the engine eats up all the savings but there are other good things besides the mpg. I think you already know the good stuff and I know you only want to hear it from 20 guys here that you should get one sooooo. Be nice to your wife and maybe she will let you buy it.

Maybe you should put it this way...New gas or used diesel????

No I just gotta wait to see if the guy still has it available. Although an oil burner is more economical and longer lasting, my concern would be the reduced speed of a N/A diesel, but I guess I could always set the alarm earlier...

And Dennis, you got me pegged brother- I just need to hear from y'all before I jumped .

The 6.5 NA will push your boat fine. That motor is very high compression.

my father in law has a 30' Trojan with twin small Chryslers and the fuel economy is terrible on a good day. (granted it is a very heavy boat). if possible get the diesel. you wont regret it.

Have you ever seen what happens to gas powered boats when they explode?
