Pedestal seat STUCK, help

photos of the problem below.

i purchased an adjustable height pedestal lean post and seat from cabelas. It is the more expensive seat cushion, which has the concave shaped back for leaning, or the pad for sitting. Super nice and i suggest this product to anyone needing one.

Problem is that it was so snug going into the female deck plate. Not sure if the inside plastic ring was caked with crud or what but that sucker is stuck and wont move. I could not get it out, and had to remove the plate and all and take it home with me so i could get my boat cover on.

as far as expansion and contraction im not remembering which is which, it was already hot out, like 110, and i had no energy left and removed it and took it home like i said. the cool house hasnt done anything to help. Maybe sticking it back out in the heat? I used a hard rubber mallet and tried to hammer the base up of the shaft with no luck. Also tried putting my feat against the bottom of the seat and pulling on the plate, no dice. Im figuring i need more brains and less muscle. Does anybody have insight on what might work. I tried to call atwood but ther are closed for the weekend.

thanks for reading, i just need some help. thanks in advance

Do they have a locking pin release you need to push in first?

yes but as you can see from the photo the plastic pin has not even gone past the plastic bezzle, its not the pin that is the problem, its just stuck

Heat the base with a torch to expand it,wrap the post with a towel soaked in ice water to contract it.Would be even better if you could slide some ice cubes into the post.Tap with a mallet.

As long as the locking pin isn't in the hole you could use a strap wrench on the pipe and try standing on the base or screw it to something to keep the base from moving while you turn the post.

Might try letting it soak in some penetrating oil over night first.

I have all the tools and will be working at home all day if you need some help!

Great idea Dennis, i will try some marvels or some other oil. There are drain holes in the base so i can apply some from both angles.

nice offer, but i live 5 hrs from you, thanks very much.
