New outboard mystery

I have a new Suzuki df 115 with about 18 hours on it. It has been running perfectly. It has new Suzuki Ignition/Tach/Controls as well.

After stopping for a fish we tried to start the motor and nothing happened. No buzzer sound and no sound from the engine. the tilt and trim do work even when the ignition does not. After a while we tried the key and it buzzed and started as normal. After other stops the engine would either start as normal or the key turn would give zero results but a minute later might work. All of our connections appear to be good. The tilt/trim always works even when the key does not. We tried starting the next day with the motor cold and one time also no result but after a few tries started as normal.

Are there any motor Gurus out there who could give us a clue to our problem or an idea of what to check?

Thanks for any help, Aguila

make sure the shifter/ throttle is in neutral. you might have a touchy one that "sticks"

Make sure ALL the electrical connections are clean and tight.Check the connections at the battery,on the starter, solinoid, ground on the engine. Could also be the switch going bad. Also check the main fuse connection.
Good luck

WE tracked it down to a loose wiring harness. Thanks for the responses.
