Yamaha hydraulic tilt/trim

I think I need to add some hyraulic fluid in my 115 4 stroke. It's making a noise that sounds like it is straining. It's a 2001 and I don't think it's ever had fluid added. What kind of fluid do I use and where do I fill it?

It is probably a Teleflex. Any marine store should have the fluid or you can order it online. You may want to find out why you are losing fluid. With a 2001, you may need to replace the seals. An easy task that will cost a little less than $100. PM me if you need some help. Also, I can let you borrow the tool to take the caps off. Here is a link to where I ordered mine.

I'm still waiting for the dust seals and o-rings for my tilt/trim cylinders. Robbie Gordon ordered them but says that the factory is not stocking many parts for any of the older engines. I might have to figure out how to install some aftermarket seals...

I have the steering parts (for Baystar or Teleflex) and fluids, I do my own installation for warranty reasons
