Need some advices on taking a small boat out.

Hello fellow DB'ers.

I just picked up a small 15'ft seaswirl trihull with an early 70hp evinrude.
The boat is stock with no electronics. I bought a small fish finder and radio for it, also bought a portable gps.
Installed a 30gal bait tank
I have all coastguard safety equips such as flair gun kits, life vest, extra vhf radio, vessle assit, 1 anchor and 150 ft of rope.

I believe this is a lake boat but i've seen many people take it out on the big pond.

I've own many boats before but never this small, which mean i have no idea how far i can take this boat out ( i know about checking weathers and condition before heading out on a small boat ) so i am seeking small boat owners to give me some advices.

Can i take this boat to HB flat, PV or a few miles out on a good day? Any comments or advices will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tommy.
Ill post some pictures when i get home

Just pay attention to the weather forcasts and head for the barn at the earliest sign of wind. I used to fish a little 15 footer when I was young. Didn't have all the fancy gear. Just paid attention to conditions and knew my limits.

Dude just take it out man. You could go to hawaii with it if you had enough gas! Just watch your weather/ beer intake and smoke intake! Those Tri hulls are stout man. Just make sure your radio works good, you already took care of vessel assist so your golden. Dude I have seen boats smaller than that out there!

Since you're already an experienced boater, I think it'll be second nature what you do once you get out there. Don't let others tell you to be afraid of two foot boat wakes in your 15. I use to take a 15 1/2 foot bayliner out fourteen miles offshore in NorCal. I've used the same boat in six foot swells fishing for salmon.

If I had a 15 footer right now, I'd take it 15-20 miles out (given the right conditions) and go paddy hoppin'.

Don't sweat it man. Pick your days and conditions carefully, and get out there.

Tight lines.

had almost the same boat, farthest i got out was 18 miles, sure felt small out there. definetely pay close attention to the weather. if the swell gets big that little boat feels like a surfboard and if it gets choppy your back gets crushed.

More like how much bow and freeboard does it have? 15 feet is very very small out there. Not saying you can't do it but not much margin for error or other shit happening. Remember those football players off of Florida???? That was a bigger boat and 10 times the money. All but one died. Just saying. I worked on a 50ft 6 pack boat and got into some shit. Be safe and check that weather. Peace
