Shifting Problem

I replaced one of my cables and now when I put the throttle in forward the boat goes in reverse. When I put it in reverse the boat goes in forward. Is there an easy fix for this?

Put a counter rotation prop on itClick the image to open in full size. Sounds like you hooked the cable up to the wrong location. What are you running for power? Some binnacle controls have 2 differant locations to hook the cable up to,one to pull and the other to push

LMAO!!

Hey, you might be on to something. They switched to front wheel drive in the 80s. Relocate the engine to the bow!

Sounds like you own a Volvo Penta 280.

Follow the shift cable down to where it connects to the outdrive.

There will be two sides you can attach the cable to. Switch it to the other side.

I think they were designed that way so you can put on a counter rotating prop and not have to change the lower end if you have duels.
