Actually Jerry , powering a ALLOY boat can be a little cheaper and a comparable size boat, Alloy Vrs Glass ,The alloy boat is about 2/3 to 3/4's the weight .
Most alloy boats are a mod.V so they don't roll so much . Due to there lighter weight they can carry more weight [ My pacific 23is good for 4K load ] Now the guys down under use a 24* dead rise but the have ballast tubes to make the boat stable at rest .

Alloy Boats are not cheap and a quality Plate boat in the 23' range will be in the neighbor hood of 65K to 70K NEW [ that's Boat-Motor-Trailer ] and can be more depending what you want on it.

With a little maintenance a Plate Alloy boat will last for Decades , most come with Awesome hull guarantees. My Pacific has a LIFE TIME hull guarantee.

Sorry... But that was one of the most inaccurate statements I have ever seen.

I have seen many boats with pitting due to galvanic corrosion and horrible pitting on the hull. That is one of the reasons they have a galvanometer because the hull will disappear slowly with time. Anything metal can and will corrode.

By the way, back on topic, my Parker 2520 is 8 years old and holding up like she's brand new. A couple of scars on her from use, but everything still seems like new.

UnWired , You are correct on the Alloy , if not maintained there will be problems .

EVERYTHING returns to dirt.

Now, if I wasn't in ALLOY the Parkers are in my top 3 picks for Glass boats.

Cape horn 27
Parker 25
Rocksalt34 , I know its a Alloy boat.

But those two glass boats are on my short list.
