Thumbs up "Wireless" Trailer/Towing Lights

Has anyone else used wireless tow lights? I purchased a set at Pepboy's auto parts store a couple of months ago for 149.00 and I must say they work pretty darn good on my boat trailer. I used them on my utility trailer last week and to pull a car behind my RV last month. You can strap them on or use the magnetic mounts on the bottoms. All you have to do is plug the transmitter into your towing vehicles trailer wiring plug and then mount the lights on your trailer or car. The transmitter then sends the brake - turn signals and running lights information to the wireless tow lights. Total hook up time for me was less then 1 minute. I will let you know in a couple of months how they are working out.

Let me know if anyone else has a set of these..

P.S. I also found these same lights on the JCWhitney.com and WirelessTowLights.com web sites for those of you who do not have a Pepboys close.

Do the lights run on 9 Volts or are they wired to boat battery? Cant imagine they would last very long on 9Volt especially driving at night. I could be wrong.

Batteries

Hi Big Fish,

Each light takes 4 AA batteries. The instructions say that the lights will last 12 hours night time driving (with running lights) and 12 hours day time. That is if you use Lithium batteries. I have been using the standard Alkaline and they will last 8 hours 4 hours night and 4 hours day according to the instructions. I have not used them at night yet, so I am on about 10 hours just using them during the day with the Alkalines.

Sounds like a great idea. Are the seals waterproof ? Being removable, you should'nt have to be an issue with the waterproof but it's the "what if" thing.

Hi 5150
The instructions say they are water resistant, so I think I will not be backing them into the water. Although they do say in the instructions that the lights are sealed with rubber 0-rings. I don't think I am going to submerce anyway.. I have used them in the rain a few times and NO problems, still working GOOD... Great product..

Hello Arnie,

You are absolutely right.. Those are the reasons why I purchased these lights. I just got sick of playing with the wiring a replacing bulbs. I shouldn't have shown my neighbor though, now he wants to borrow them..

i bought the LED trailer light kit from WM 2 years ago, wired with anchor butt connectors and have never touched them since, they are completely sealed, and tinned wire and with the low current draw of LED's it would take forever to corrode the wiring anyways. why screw with dead batteries all the time, if i was going to spend $150 on trailer lights, they better not need anything else again.

yea, I gotta agree with Alex, I'd rather have LED's properly wired and sealed than fuck with batteries. But hey if you like em, then it's bitchin.

I dont think anyone here is saying these are better than good wired trailer lights, but rather that these can come in real handy for many applications. For example, a guy buying a boat that isn't wired properly (or at all) these can be very useful, or for those times when (like already mentioned) you're about to do an early morning tow and the lights just aren't working properly, and if you have had a boat or boats for any amount of time this does happen!

These definitely sound like a pretty cool little device if they work as good and simple as it sounds.

Yeah well my trailer is only three years old with sealed led's from the factory and I towed the last 70 miles to Sekiu with no tail lights. Salt water fucks up wiring, I don't care how much current flows through it.\
Wireless tail lights. What will they think of next. I would have given more than 150 for lights that night.

P.S. Ez loaders wiring is a joke.
