Anyone running a KAD 43-P serirs Volvo in their rig

.. I am checking a 2001 model out after New Years. It was pulled out of a 28' Skipjack that was lost off a trailer on the freeway. Heck, for that matter anyone know of anyone who lost their Skippy off the trailer?

It was an ins. salvage, they usually take awhile. So the engine may have only been run for a year or two. Haven't gotten all the details as of yet. Motor includes; complete engine, DP drive ( damaged ) but supposedly repairable, harness and guages. The engine was pulled from the boat just last week.

Scheduled to check it out on Thurs., Can anyone recommend a good mechanic from the Orange Co. Pomona areas that may be interested in making some fast cash to check the eng out for me ??? P.M. if interested or if you know of anyone.

Ckeck with Grant at Sea and Ski Marine. I beleive he is in Costa Mesa.He is a Volvo Penta dealer and is very good.

it started on the 2cd rev. of the starter. Think purred like a kitty, screamed like a scalded kitty after the super charger kicked in. Smoked a bit until it warmed up, about 3-4 min. accelerated good not so much as a burp. Need to find someone to test the engine. I hope this one works out.

bought the engine, 700 hrs. engine checks out fine. Now I need the 290 DP-E 1.78:1. Anyone have any suggestions ? New around $6,000.00 . Would like a used or rebuilt. Seems as the reg 290 DP models can't handle the torque, short service life. Hope to have this re-power done by fishing season. The gas motor and drives are comming out next weekend.

BTW if anyone is interested, engines + drives $1,100.00 each. One with brand NEW high torque stater, not a rebuild. Engines have low hrs. drives with props. I think 280's. Great condition. Lemme know.

Steve, call Ray at outdrive exchange, he may have a used or rebuilt drive that he would sell. Congrats on the motor.

Things are finally looking up. The guy I bought the eng. from came by for payment as he was going to Temecula anyway. He saw my Larson sitting at the side of the house, asked why I had the two boats. I told him the Larsons' for sale. He wanted to make a deal. I told him that it listed for $14,000 in NADA w/o the tower,electronics, trailer etc. And I was asking $12,000 as is.
He said that he really liked the boat, Do want to make a deal, I told him $8,000.00 + the drive he had. New/Used DP E 290. He was intrigued. Said he would call me early next week. Had I thought about it, I may have just try and traded him the boat / trailer and all for the eng +drive. Those DPX and DPE drives cost over $6G's new.

I'll kill many birds with the same stone if he goes for it. I'll have my side yard back, I'll get the Larson sold, get my drive, and have money left for other things for the project. Hope it works out.
