| Raw water pump problem
My raw water pump is driving me crazy. It works fine the very first time I use it on every trip. After I turn it off and turn it back on later in the trip, it never works. I've check the wires and they seem to have a good connection.
Has anyone ever had this issue?

You using my boat? I'm having the same issue.
I got my boat ready Saturday for some bottom fishing on Sunday. Checked the bait pump, bilge pump, fishbox pumpout and raw water pump, lights, yada, yada, yada and all worked fine in the driveway. Got out and did some fishing, cleanup time comes and raw water pump isn't woking again, won't even turn on. This is the fourth time I've had this issue, works fine in the driveway and only when it wants to out on the pacific lake. It's old so I'm saving my hair and just installing a new one. good luck!!

It's a bubble between the pump and the pickup. Try a bucket of water in the tank and let it drain through the pump a minute before you turn it on. Works for me.

When you say "tank", are you referring to the bait tank? My raw water pump is not connected to my bait system at all. Is there another option in getting the "bubble" out, if that is the problem?

When you flip the power switch on can you hear the motor turn on?
I just went through my second pump in as many years.

Did you check your strainer? Try running it when at speed? Try replacing your spray nozzle?
sounds dumb, but I've had luck with these in the past for that problem.

I got the same thing Shawn,, i tried the strainer, and the nozzle, the story i heard is that the shaft that turns the impellar is corrosive and the impellar is plastic and they are prone to break, thank god for the extended service plan

Most washdown pumps are a diphragm design, a positive displacement pump with no impeller, and do not need prime either. Thats why they tend to thump as they run.

I've had every washdown pump problem and pump ever made.
My $.02.
They all fuckign suck. 1-2 years max. I get the Shureflo blaster pro from WM and they will exchange it within 3 years from the date stamped on the pump label.
Washdown pumps and Trailer Jacks are a conspiracy by the marine industry designed to fail....
