I/O or Outboard

BDer's which is better and cheaper to maintain? Still looking for that new 18 to 20 ftr to replace the dingy for all around fishing and family fun. Any and all comments are appreciated.

My first offshore boat was I/O. I really liked it, but, it took allot more TLC than an outboard, but that I/O boat was way cheaper than the outboard model, thus getting me into offshore fishing affordbly

Some high quality boat manufacturers like Grady White and Pursuit no longer even offer IO's on any of their new boats. Outboards are now a better option in most cases.

Well its like this,,,,you wouldnt put your car motor in salt water would you? All steel block and lots of parts that arent originally desighned for salt water. Outboards where specifically bread to be run in salt water conditions. I would not have anything less. If you are seroiusly considering outboards i think you will find that in the long term,,,that is waht we are talking about right, long term the outboard will be way cheaper. So dont be fooled, do your research. I recently purchased a Evinrude e-tec after many long hours of reseach and condiseration. I absolutly friggin love it. Its incredibly powerful, loaded with torqe, gets amazing fuel economy, dosnt burn any oil, maintenance free for 5 years, backed by 5 year warranty. Evinrude has really outdone themselfs with the e-tec. I highly recoment that you go to google and type in Evinrude vs yamaha for example and wsee for yourself. Heres a link if it makes it easier for ya. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XRCDN3JKZ0"]YouTube - Evinrude E-tec vs. Yamaha: Hole Shot[/ame]

Also might i say that i have this boat for sale its a perfect all around boat heres a pic,,,its a 2000 Baja bayrunner with 2 honda fourstrokes. Ones a 50 Hp main and the other is a 5 hp kicker. selling for around 10.500. It holds a ton of bait and fishing reel nice. Gets really good fuel economy too. Best of luck to ya and see ya outhere sometime. I'll be the guy fying by ya.

BigFish69 thanks for the input. I have to admit I am defintely leaning toward the Outboard. Cost is a factor. Looks like a great boat you have, its just out of my price range. Also looking toward the glass boats. Got to have something that is comfy for the wife as well, so she can catch a snooze when the fish aren't biting.
