reading this makes me remember so many other people that had have the same problems.. trust me youre not alone.. and you are not the only one.. i've heard bad stories about everything.. i work for a shop in castaic and here is another bad one that i've seen hapen in other shops.. this probably the worst one..
jan of 08.. this is bad.. a customer decided to bring in his 26ft marlin billfish that has a bad diesel motor and decides to repower with twin motor application.. the motors are brand new by the way... the work takes 10 months to be completed becase the boat was completley gutted and everything inside the boat was replaced with new stuff.. everything from upholstery to fishfinder.. total cost to rebuild boat.. $65k
this is what happened.. the person who decided to do the work did not close off the transom before installing an armstrong bracket.. so during some pounding in the ocean the bracket shifted making the boat sink..
the turn around.. insurance wont cover it.. customer goes back to the shop and has the owner fix the boat and everything falls back in the customer wich is paying 15k to fix his boat back again..
the boat is still not done..
the only thing i can recomend is that you look at the history of the shop you're taking your boat to.. there is a lot of guys out there than have no idea how in the hell to work on boats.. they just know how to replace parts.. go to the BBB and check records.. i know that its bad that you have to do that to feel comfortable enough to take your boat somewhere..
if you need anyhelp finding parts or anything email me or PM me.. i hate to see when people get screwd and have no where to go..
by the way the name of the shop that i work for is called Lakeside Boats INC.
we know your motor and outdrive inside and out.. and we are a volvo and an indmar dealers as well..
for help with anything were here! wish you luck
