Fishfinder

Picking up a new fishfinder for the Bayrunner. Existing Humminbird is better suited for a yak.

Models I am looking at are:

Eagle Seafinder 480DF....Best resolution, includes speed and temp. This appears to be the best choice for the $$$$$$$.

Furuno LS4100....Nice with less resolution and no speed.

Lowrance X58DF....Smaller screen less resolution.

Can anyone comment on Eagles. Thought I read that Lowrance made them.

Thanks,

Ron

Hey Ron,
Funny you mention that.. The Eagle does have a higher res screen and does include speed. But here's something you have to think about. Furuno makes a quality product that has been proven to withstand salt water. Eagle is more oriented tword the freshwater community. Lowrance does make Eagle. The standard for what we do here on the west coast as far as durability is still Furuno. I know I have sold many 4100TMs to a few of you guys on this board and have never ever heard anything bad about them. Last thing is most people get speed from their GPS so there would be no need for a speed on the transducer.

I've seen your 4100 Mr. B and I'd go furuno and pay the extra $$
I'll tell ya so later if you don't.
Have the transducer either way installed by someone that knows. Either way or I'll say "I told you so"...
So to save some typing later
I told you so

Speaking of proper mounting for the transducer...

I have the 600l with the transom mount. I would really like to have the through-hull. Can anyone recommend a good installer? I really want it done right.

The transom mount picks up too much noise and is often useless at planing speed. I also need advise on which transducer to get.

I am in the IE but I'll drag it anywhere to get it done right but reasonable.

furuno 4100

Ron,

I bought the furuno 4100TM from Max and so far so good. As far as speed goes. When my hat flies off I know I'm going max speed in the "Kruz-Can".
