| Need help with a lower end unit
Does anyone know how hard it is to change the seal to a lower end unit or a good mechanic who can make the repair without charging an arm and a leg?

What kind of drive are you talking about? I have every 280 drive maual I could send you if that's what you have. If not you can find them online pretty easy. Lower end isn't that hard to do yourself.

it is on a 98 Mercury 225 outboard. Not sure if that would narrow it down?

James, for the life of me I can't remember the guy's name, but he's fairly new here and is mobile and honest. He's also deaf ( please don't let that discourage you ) Never met him, but would consider him when needed as we just payed out the wazoo for maintenance just before he showed up on the board. Good luck and tight lines
Karl

I haven't used him either, was just giving the link to the guy Karl mentioned. So if you use him and he's no good it's Karl's fault not mine |

Have the previous mechanic did pressure and vacuum test it?

if u see water in the speedo tube shift shaft

Hey Ray I have not had anyone look at it yet I just discovered it Friday. There is water in the lower end oil. My E-mail account is down right now (Dam Cox) but I will E-mail with my number as soon as it is up.
