Our new oil pan arrives tomorrow. We had 1/2 gallon of oil in the bildge with coolant in it too! So out comes this big engine, new pan, new oil pressure sender, new fresh water pump, nuts bolts, paint! I wish we could get this POR-15 fast, no one in California has it. Hubby is a heavy equipment mechanic and he say no to the alumium pans!

my shamrock has a very wet bilge. when i replaced the engine a few years back i painted it with petit paints hd trailer primer... it's thick and bullet proof. no sign of any rust.

I had the same problem with my volov 41-P and I found myself always using T9 and scrubbing it extensively. The rust continued to spread and so I finally gave in and bought a stainless steel pan nad pulled the engine

I replaced mine 3 years ago with a new factory coated marine metal pan. It was only $75 on line. I doubt the engine will outlive the pan. I have a GM 350 w/ Volvo 290dp. Easiest engine I have ever pulled. Good luck to you.
