Walk About

We had a sweet CC, and traded it in for a 23 WA, and would never go back, I won't even go out on someone elses CC to fish, love the dry and comfy ride, and the toliet and the stove and as other guys have sadi getting out of the elements, go to the boat show and check them all out!

Center Consul

We fish both a 20ft CC Mako & a 2520 Parker. The Mako was purchased for a Baja trip & we use it locally. Even locally, we take foul weather gear & I started wearing goggles to get the salt out of my eyes when running hard. Personally, I would not have a CC for distance running to the Tuna down south or Morro Bay. Getting wet gets old fast unless your fishing Baja in 100+ heat. Locally your fine.

Parker 23' has a fish hold and a Sick sick Hull. Pricey yes but it is a fishing only boat. The parker 21' is a great boat as well but does not have a fish hold.

Also look at the parker knockoff. Cheaper and less of a resale. Kencraft 23' is the only hull I would go with. The smaller boats are modified hull and slam where the Parker 21 won't...

I prefer a CC over a cuddy or standard pilot house. I can throw a jig in any direction due to no house. I can run around the boat and not sit with my ass in the air while the fish is off the bow. I like being in open air as I can see everything going on around me. I get soaked some days but not usually. I rarely sleep on a boat. Usually it's when I'm getting towed in or on charter.
I do like pilot houses with a tower on top though.
Advantages to both.

Is this true with the Kencraft 220 WACC? Slam in to the waves on the rentry?

Thanks,

Joe

I'M WITH YOU ON THE NEW BOAT THING. I BOUGHT TWO USED BOATS LAST YEAR. BOTH WERE GOOD QUALITY BOATS. 1. 1999 PARKER 21 CUDDY W/175 EVENRUDE.
2. 1984 24' GRADY W/TWIN 130 YAMAHAS. BOTH RAN EXCELLENT AND THE NEW BUYERS GOT GOOD DEALS. I LOST 10GRAND. NEVER FELT COMFORTABLE 50MI OFFSHORE. COMFORT AND CONFIDENCE IS WORTH THE PRICE OF A NEW BOAT. i'M BUYING A NEW 2120 PARKER PIOLIT HOUSE. I KNOW I WILL LOSE ANOTHER 10K THE MINUTE I LAUNCH IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. JUST MY 2CENTS WORTH. HOPE I DIDNT MAKE ANOTHER BAD DECISION.

Joe I've never been in that 22WA. It has a Deadrise of Entry 58/Transom 18 I think you'll be okay. Slap on a pair of trimtabs and keep the nose down. That boat does look pretty sweet though. Has a nice layout. Almost like a 21'-23' Parker Cuddy. Did you check it out at the boat show?

All I can tell you is what I have.

A Seaswirl 2301 CC with twin Yam 115's
Of course I fish it in Kona and all I know is that it works great here and has almost everything I need, love the boat ect.
BUT!!!!!

There is no way in hell I would get this CC or any other if I was going to go the distance after Tuna in San Diego.
If I were to do fair weather 20 to 30 miles offshore then it would be fine but not for the hard core fish finding most here do.
Its not the boat but the fact you have no cover in bad weather, not just rain but the fricking cold also. If you go CC then invest in the absolute best rain/foul weather gear money can buy.

If you want to look at one talk to Bill at the Seaswirl dealer in Vista........damn name eludes me right now.

Aloha! Pete

Possible solution for a CC

I'm in the process of having a panga built at Amato Boats. This wwll be my first boat. I intend to reach the inner banks when the weather is right and as I gain more experience. I couldn't afford a W/A and see a small cuddy as a waste of fishing space for a poor man like me. Scott's panga has an enclosing canvas around the tuna tower which I will have installed on my panga also. The bow canvas is for sleeping on the hook.
