If your going to take Byeye along, youve got to have a cuddy, thats the first place he heads to Seriously, its really nice to have the cuddy to go down to if your taking a break, making lunch and want a place to set and get out of the elements for a little while. I wouldn't even consider a center consul if I were going to buy another boat, especially if your going long as stated above. There really nice when you need one.

My dad is getting ready to place an order for the Short Cab Rock Harbor 25 and with a minimum diesel set-up, he's looking at $140,000.00
But it is a sweet rig. -JIM

A Glacier Bay or Word Cat 22' CC will ride better and than most 26' footers and have comparable deck space because the bow is squared off and not pointed.
These run about $60k new with PLENTY of goodies.
You can also get a Twin Vee 26' which will blow you away with deck space for even less money.
As for the Dual motors, it's a double edge sword. On one hand you have the security of two motors, two fuel tanks and two batteries. The downside is the Initial Cost and Maintenence is double.
If your worried about twin motors breaking, don't... I don't know anyone who has had a serious problem with ANY newer four stroke. They just don't break.
Check out the suzuki's. Great bang for the buck.
Good luck.

You don't have to buy a new boat to get a warranty. Buying new is great if you have the cash and don't mind 30-40% depreciation in the first 2-3 years. But hey, they are nice and shiny! Now go get that new boat ready to fish and get out your wallet again BIG time. (You've been through all that with the Cruisers) Electronics, bait systems, canvas, rigging etc. all cost a TON. If a near-new quality boat can be found fully rigged (and they can), it saves huge bucks because that $2,000 radar that the last guy installed adds only pennies on the dollar in resale value.
Pick the boat, or boats out that are worth considering and go find one thats near new. It might take a year, but the savings are worth it. Then find one with an engine, or engines, that are still under warranty if that bugs you. The last guys repower is worth considering. Most boat manufacturers have 10+ year hull warranties, so the age of the fiberglass hull is not as critical as the power plant IMO. If you have to go to Florida or Texas and have it shipped, then do that. The transportation costs are likely to be more than offset by softer markets in these areas.
Next, I would always buy from a private party so you aren't paying for some salesman's commision. Whatever a buyer pays in commission depreciates 100% when the boat is taken off the lot.
Listening to the guys on this board, it seems that a lot of them have spent many days fishing on CC's. Many more than I have, will or care to. After a couple very wet rides with one-half of my ass hanging off a leaning rail, I prefer to sit in a captains chair and do so behind a windshield or eisenglass. Seems like there's always a lot of CC's for sale too.

It's just very hard to be patient when looking for a boat when the bite is on. It will be much easier in the off season when fishing is dead and the deals are o'plenty. I have time as I'm not looking for something for this season........I do want to be ready for next season though.
Whens the next boat show?
