Alternative Gil Brackets!

I was looking at the SD Craig's List and noticed this boat:

Awesome 25ft fishing, diving, and family boat

Not for the boat in particular but for the unique outboard mounts. I do alot of fabbing and if anyone wants to maybe try some of these, I'd be interested in fabbing up some prototypes.

What would you guys recommend for the material?

Well that went over well.
How about any ideas on brackets taht you NOW have but would like to see?

Most are solid plate that is anything but light. That saved weight could be used for more beer?, bait, rods, fuel?

A) Opening top and storage for other gear?

B) Tubular powdercoated Aluminum?

C) 2" x 6" Redwood ?

Hanging a fat 4 stroke off the back of a boat that was originally built for a 2 stroke, means that the scuppers could be under water and the transom is close to the waterline.

A bracket to compensate for the extra weight and leverage would be ideal. Swimstep would be cool. There are lots of them out there but they are built on the East Coast and ordering one can be a PITA. Transom has to be flat and straight, angle has to be correctly measured. Ooops could cost you a lot.

Custom built in town. You could make a template, build the bracket with flotation and fill the outboard notch, all in one piece. That would be better then 2x6 redwood

After I get my first boat project finished I will be ready for a bracket on another project boat. Aluminum boat 23'. It had an I/O but I want an O/B. I have a shop with welders but don't know what type of bracket works best.
