We got some salt water in the gas! Took into the shop and was told the we only have 30 compression on one of the 3 cylinders I guess there is salt the got behind the rings! Does anyone no of any tips or tricks we could try to get this shit to dissolve so we dont have to spend $2000 to get it fixed Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks everyone!

Dissolving wont help your compression issue much. You need to pull the powerhead and disassemble it down to the bare cylinder, measure the bore of the bad cylinder, buy a OS piston kit, take the piston kit and cylinder to floyds machine shop, have them bore the cylinder (~$40) to the appropriate dimension based off the new piston, and then slap it back together. You are good with tools, right?

At the price quoted sounds like you would be better off finding a good used outboard.

If you are pretty sure you are going to enjoy boats (or anything with a motor) I would suggest that you roll up your sleeves and go for it. In the very least you will learn how wrench on a motor and there is likely a good chance that you CAN do it yourself. Otherwise, you are not going to get much money for that motor with 30 psi.

Although, there was a 30 HP 2 stroke tohatsu on CList the other day for $600.
