Wanted. Info on a ZF trolling valve

I'm looking to ad some trolling valves to my boat. i have a 330 cummins 5.9 with a 220A ZA tranny. Does anybody have any recommendations on who to talk to, how to put them in, or just anything would be nice!

Tony even posted the install manual in this thread. It sounds like a BIG job installing them and the other guys were talking about $700+++ for the part and $3,000+++ for install.

THere are two types that I know of .Manual and Electric.Cost of the parts and all related hardware manual for two trannies was 2200.00. Im sure you can do better on the price. They are sitting in my closet behind me and Ill tell you why.The manual style is kinda like a choke cable you pull up and they lock in place. If you forget to disengage push them down and you and you hit the throttles you just lost a trannie. It happens more often than you think.I know of two cases fried trannies.they are simple to install but a Mofo to get to the trannies. They come with instructions and dos and donts.I have 2 380 Cummings with ZF and I just took a little pitch out of the props and went from 4kt at idle to 2 kt at trolling live bait.I did sacrafice a little top end but so what,If your not trolling for marlin with live bait or big tuna why do you need to have trolling valves??If we need to get any slower we just shift in and out of gear.I talked to ZF about shifting in and out of gear 50 times a day and there answer was so what.I know I didnt answer your questions but give you my point of view. You loose a trans over doing something dumb its 5 to 6k hit.Me being dumb and old isnt a good combo to have to remember to disinguage the trolling valves when you got a 500 lb black marlin hooked up and you fire wall the throttles, good luck.

I had and used trolling valves all the years I fished Albacore with my bait boat. They work well on big heavy boats. I think I would rig up some bow drags that work well on lighter boats and they let the boat track and drive well with the added rpm that you can't get with trolling valves. Most of the commercial salmon fleet uses them and they really work great.. The added rpm's makes everything work better and you still go slow and there alot less $$$$. There easy to rig. Call and I will dial you in. Capt Ron 619-977-2829
