I found out this morning that I lost my job due to this shitty economy...
So, I just got done filing for unemployment and now I'm getting my gear together to head out for a local afternoon bass fishing session with Matt...
When life hands you lemons, say fuck it and go fishing...

Sorry to hear Erik, way to much of that going on.
The wife lost her job of 22+ years, my bro just lost his house as well.
Finally getting settled in here & they cut another 20%, feels like it's just a matter of time.
Hang in there!
I see lots of pre-fishing in your future.

Mike, don't worry about me catching a big one. I'm not participating in the contest anymore. Plus I think that your fish from yesterday would be TOUGH to beat locally...
Thanks for the sentiments Josh, I'm not in any kind of trouble financially. My wife is a Veterinarian, so she makes pretty good money and we can live off what she makes coupled with my unemployment check, so we'll be fine...
I've been working in printing for a long time and it seems like the industry has been on the downslope for years. So I might take this chance to look around and see if I can find a more stable career path (and do a lot of fishing while I look)...

Right there with you man. Lost mine back in August after 26 years. But it's not all bad. Been working as a deckhand since then.
Hope you find something soon, and have a chance to fish a lot in the meantime.

Sorry to hear of this. One of my neighbors got got laid off recently. Luckily he is a highly educated person with one hell of a Resume. He got a job within a month.
MY OPINION
I personally think the unemployment rates in CA are going to increase..
With the CA Budget Deficit. The only way to get is even close to balanced is Layoffs. Which is going to put even more pressure on the job market, will cause more foreclosers etc..
I dont see a rebound on the CA Housing market until CA balances the budget.

I dont see a rebound on the CA Housing market until CA balances the budget. | Sorry to hear you lost your job, but lucky you have a wife that make bucks. I've been lucky to hold my job and never been unemployed. But I just learned today my brother in law is drawing $2000/month in unemployment for a year now. That is INSANE, no wonder CA is broke. He has no incentive to look for a job. I wouldn't either if I was getting 2k/month to sit on my ass.
MY OPINION
Anyone who think the housing market will rebound even with a balance budget is dreaming. Real estate agents are worst than used car salesmen. "Now is the time to buy," is their motto. Price go up, "now is the time to buy." Price go down, "now is the time to buy." House burning to the ground, "now is the time to buy." They will never tell you now is NOT the time to buy, no matter what. The heyday is over, go look for another bubble.
