Sorry to hear you lost your job. Happened to me in April. My company shut down their California operations. I start a new job next Monday after a lot of time looking. 60 years old and going to change from being an IT guy to being a mechanic, and happy to get the work. Keep your spirits up and don't mentally insist on any absolutes.

Don't worry about the thread jack, my post was intended to be light hearted and it was more about going fishing than it was about losing my job...

I put four commisioned sales people on UI in June 2008, just as gas was hitting $4.50 a gallon. I could have paid them hours but at minimum wage and after taxes and fuel costs it made better sense to just stay home and collect the check. It's not like they're getting rich, they used to average $60k a year or better, now they average around $1800 monthly. I paid into the UI progarm for 15 years without anyone filing a claim and have no problems with anyone receiving UI benefits, especially in this economy. The good news is the feds have managed to keep the extensions coming so its good to know there is some trickle down "bailout" money for the little people. Good Luck Eric.
