Mario 1st look up the percentage of crime going on for touristas driving down El norte baja , then ask yourself if it is really a good idea to go down that way at all.
there is a chance you may not have any problems then theres a chance you may regret going down 1 the rest of your life ! Fly down on Alaska Airlines to Cabo hit up a pangero if the weather permits or a cruiser if you want to shell out the dough .
if the weather sux then there is always the gigglin marlin !
Hit up vegas and try your luck with those pirates . Driving the baja is not to safe right now ! Goodluck and watch your back !

I appreciate your concern adam, but as long as ive been going down there its always been going on.the web is allowing for people to share there stories now, but its always been that fucked up down there. ive always had that feeling that im walking through a room filled with rat traps, while driving south of the border.

san felipes fishing is not the greatest you need to travel a little further south for that.i definitely would heed mad2na's advice and be very careful when traveling in northern baja right now, having property there for quite a few years i can tell you its NOT the same as its always been and it has nothing to do with the internet.it has EVERYTHING to do with MONEY and DRUGS so use caution.

San Felipe fishing sucks unless you go on a mothership way south to the islands. K&M and Pedros is in San Quintin (pacific side, not the sea of cortez). The 4 wheeling, sun and partying in Felipe is good. Bay of LA (midriff islands) is a much much much better bet if you don't mind the Baja driving and want to hit the sea of cortez. Here is some info... Sea Of Cortez Sportfishing, Overview, San Felipe, Baja California |

Things are slow right now in San Felipe except for the corvina/bay bass fishing... No unusual problems going through Mexicali, if the weather warms up a little and the wind is calm, you can get a boat from several guys right in front of the Bar Miramar in town.

If you take your yak down, it would definitely be worth your while to get south of San Felipe to the town of Puertecitos, they have a naturally protected cove with a beach to launch from, a launch for larger boats when the tides right. A lot of bay bass, corvina, triggers and a occasional sierra. Take yourself some gulp squid and shrimp with an assortment of leadheads.

Puertecitos is the place to go. i think its 20 milles south of san felipe. the road sucks the last time i was down thier. longest 20 miles ive been on. But it a nice little fishing vilage. thiers some islands close, theirs also the golden reef off shore. should be able to get a villageer to take you out on a panga. they also have some hot springs in the town.
