Cabo same day report

Took the wife out on a little crew trip today. I figured we woud hit the tuna bite at the La fortuna Iman bank area that has been so good for some time now.
The wind was blowing a little out of the north but the seas were fairly calm. The water temp in the Iman area came down a little from last week to around 76deg but the tuna are still there. It was not wide open but we had enough sardines to chum with and fished the light line and we had our limits and then some by 11:00am. After we got our fill of tuna I decided to give my capitan a lesson in bottom fishing using the sounder. Fernando is a great captain he just has never fished with electronics before. The guy could read the surface conditions and spot birds, porpoise and marlin like I have never seen.
Well I set up on a few rock piles and we got our fill of small pargo and grouper. I made a believer out of Fernando and I can't wait for him to add bottom fishing with the use of a good sounder and GPS to his expertise. I kept going back to the same small rock pile and when I set up on it right we would all get hit as soon as we got to the bottom.
Great day to be out on the water.

Re: Cabo same day report

7 to 10lbs We did get about 1/2 a dozen that went around 15lbs but we didn't see or here of any bigs in that area any ways. Next chance I get to take the boat out I'm going to try the Jamie. I have not heard of anything there yet as most of the boats that are fishing the Pacific side are fishing the great marlin bite at the Gate. The San diego Longrange boats are nailing the Cows somewhere below the Mag bay area so I'm hoping some of those fish move down some into the local cabo banks.
I'm almost tempted to try to run the 130 to 160 miles up to where there getting those big fish. If anybody wants to buddy boat up there in the next couple of weeks.
