Cabo same day report

Went out to the golden gate agian today and the marlin are still there and pushing the bait up to the surface. We cleared the Arch by 6:15am and were created to some 10 to 12 knot winds right on the nose but we ended up being one of the first boats on the scene. The marlin were up feeding all over the bank and it didn't take long to have four on at once. We had 6 fish released by 9:00am and then about 100 other boats showed up and the fish were a little harder to hook but we managed to release 10 by 1:30 and called it a day. There is plenty of mackerel to make on the bank down deep.
It was all run and gun fishing as the birds would start crashing the water when the marlin would push the bait up. we also got two nice DoDo's to take home for dinner. I am not a big marlin guy (I perfer the cow tuna) but when these fish are on the chew like they are know its a lot of fun.
With all the bait at the bank these fish should stay around for awhile. In the mourning I plan on fish the Gordo banks area and see if we can find some bigger model tuna than all the footballs that are being caught there.
I did have a friend of mine get a 120lb tuna 2 days ago on his way to PV at 16 mile form cabo so we are hoping to get lucky. The wahoo fishing has been pretty good for those that are getting the chwilly baits early and slow trolling them at the right high spots early.

Re: Cabo same day report

I have had good luck using skipjack chunk drifting over the outer gordo this time of the year.
