| Another Baja robbery. Baja Mexico Car Jacked Robbed Thieves Surfers
Quatros was about the last place I felt safe camping at along the upper pacific side of Baja. I guess the Youth Hostile doesn't afford protection anymore...
Bummer.
No more taking my wife down there for weekend get-aways

And on other fronts, there was a 25% improvement for LA in the first 90 days of 2007.
99 homicides and counting
Kevin Roderick
Jill Leovy's LAT homicide blog now takes note of 99 killings across Los Angeles county so far this year, about three a day. That's lower than last year's daily average, but the fact is that homicide spikes in the summer months. So there's still plenty of time for the rate to catch up, though here's hoping it doesn't. Meanwhile, LAPD chief William Bratton released new stats today showing that murders are down 25% in the city of Los Angeles on a year-to-date comparison. A starker way to look at it: there have been 38 murders and 66 reported rapes in the city already this year, plus 1,379 aggravated assaults, 1,570 robberies and 2,734 vehicle thefts. All are better than last year, at least by the LAPD's stats.

That sucks....
Quatros has been a problem for a long time....
My buddy was shot in the head in his tent during a robbery at shipwrecks just down from Quatros over 10 years ago.

I see what you are getting at...
My only point to your post would be to take a look at the areas where these homicides took place. It's my suspicion that they are predominantly in areas of LA that are know to be very dangerous. That doesn't make it better, just puts it in context.
Quatros is a nice place with a great little break. I have taken my family down there countless times to surf and kayak. I always camp around the Hostile there because it affords me a sense of safety. I see now that is no longer true. The description of what happened to these guys camping down there was scary. "ski masks and guns pointed in their faces". It will make be be on "ultra cautious" mode if I go down there again.
If you want to draw equivilants between LA and Mexico that's fine by me. I just wanted to let people know what had happened at Quatros.
It is what it is.

Brian,
I didn't begrudge your info one bit. A head's up about bad guys is always welcome.
It was the stupidity of the other poster that set me off.

Hey Brian,,,,
Been a while since I been down, about 2 1/2 years but Punta San Jose was nice and the ranch owner Victor seemed to know what was going on in his property always? Might try that out...
Also Punta Cabras has always been good and comfortable when I have been down there....great beach and really fun left where a right should be...Cabras is also open to year around swell window too...

You quoted the number of killings in L.A. Thats good. But I diden't see any stats on the number of killings in TJ or all of MX. The kidnappings of American women in loredo mx. I haven't read anything were familes from MX or other countries that camped overnight on beaches in the US were pulled out an robbed. Am I an my family to stay were we live an not venture too L.A. because of the killings an carjacks? This happens all over the world every min of every day. Yeah it would be nice to be able to carry a piece in mx. for protection. But then the crooked cops might get a big supprise when approaching a group to hijack them. I have an will continue to go too mx as I have in the past for over 40 years. I can just as easliy get shot here in Indio Ca. as in TJ. The deeper we travel in Mx. the safer I feel. Its a shame this happens but its going to happen no matter how much we try an take precautions.

I agree, I think comparing LA County to TJ skewers the numbers. TJ has approx. 1.2M people compared to LA County which has almost 12M people (not to mention comparing target robberies of a specific ethnic group and the right to legally carry a firearm). From what I've read, Mexico City is a lot more dangerous than TJ. There are parts of Oceanside (Backgate area) I stay away from. I guess it comes down to, "To be forewarned is to be forearmed".
Other than that...I have no opinion on this matter and have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about.
