That and the IED's, an occupying force, soldiers dying everyday for Chaney and Halliburton, religious extremism, oppression of women..... and that only took about 2 seconds worth of not thinking.

Am I an my family to stay were we live an not venture too L.A. because of the killings an carjacks? This happens all over the world every min of every day. Yeah it would be nice to be able to carry a piece in mx. for protection. But then the crooked cops might get a big supprise when approaching a group to hijack them. I have an will continue to go too mx as I have in the past for over 40 years. I can just as easliy get shot here in Indio Ca. as in TJ. The deeper we travel in Mx. the safer I feel. Its a shame this happens but its going to happen no matter how much we try an take precautions.
Ray | If you want to get into a pissing match about what country has more crime, show me the stats. These guys also said they didn't hear a thing until they had guns pointed in their ears, so I don't think a piece would have done them much good either.
I have lived peacefully here in Mexico for 30 years, and have seen more problems in my native USA during the short trips up north than I would expect to see here in 10 lifetimes. And when I lived at the Rincon, the robberies on the beach and in the parking lot were nonstop, along with fights over waves, woemen and between dogs in our front yard on a daily basis.
The only times the cops would show were to bust guys for drugs, and they only showed 3 times in the 9 years I lived in the cove.
So comparing my home to Bahgdad sets me off, as it should.

Mac Attack If I were you I would never go to Baja again. And I would not post ever again on this or any other fishing message board just to show your true feelings and disgust with Baja.

Other than that...I have no opinion on this matter and have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about. | There is risk in living anywhere. But I will also still go into LA knowing there will be 50 robberies every day. I don't think that is dangerous, do you?
Now, would you or I camp out in MacArther Park for a week? Would you sleep on any desolated beach with no other people around in a cloth tent?
Not me.
And the 50 per day robbery statistic was given for the City of LA, pop 3.8 m in 2006.

It's too bad these guys got jacked but it's just a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time and unfortunately its Mexico that seems like the wrong place lately

I'll leave the stupid racial remarks alone. As stupid as they sound I think they were taken out of context.
Northern baja has been off my list for many years. I can't tell you how many people I know who have been accosted in that area. I would never take my family there to camp. Hell, I rarely slow down when I'm driving through. I thought everyone knew that already.
If you are going to camp, camp in numbers or stay in a campground.

It's too bad these guys got jacked but it's just a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time and unfortunately its Mexico that seems like the wrong place lately | Well, you sound like a rational person. Mac does not.
Especially when, if you read them before they were history, his comments yesterday iwere in the same vein and in much poorer taste. Fuck him and assholes like him.
He strikes me as extremely xenophobic and, frankly, I am glad he's stuck up in the OC.
