Punta Chivato Trip Report & Pics.

Got back yesterday from a nice 8-day trip to Punta Chivato. Fishing was descent for a steady pick on Dorado for about 1-2 fish each day. We got into them good one afternoon around a dead porpose. We caught Dorado non stop for fish to 30 pounds on surface poppers and anything else you wanted to throw at them. Billfish where around and we were able to land (and release) a sailfish on Sat. Several others got away thoughout the week. Water temp was 79-81 degrees with cleaner water 12+ miles out. Weather was actually nice for this time of year untill Sat. when the temp went up and then a storm blew us off the beach late Sun night. Left for home at midnight and crossed the boarder around 3:00 PM. Hell of a drive, but you can't beat that place...

600 + mile's give or take, Oh yea looks like fun. It's been too long since I've been there.

Love Chivato thanks for the post. Are there Stingrays in close this time of year?

Yep, a ways from La Salina... about 700 miles from the boarder by the time you get to the camping beach at Punta Chivato.

Terryc, there were a few stinrays around but fewer that I normally see in June and July in the past. I've never had a problem with them (at least not there)
