Been a while… made it back to Baja for the week, however need to head back up. Just checking up on things. Did get one day of fishing in anyway and a general break down on what’s biting or not.
Weather is balmy high 80s to low 90s, which isn’t really that bad for the few days I’ve been here. Not much wind that I’ve seen other than the usual 10 knot southeasterly during the late afternoon. Water temps are 78-80 for the inshore with stained color blue-green and 10-20 foot visibility. Offshore waters are 80-83 degrees and cobalt blue and over 80 feet of visibility.
Took one run today with Danny Chiquete his son Irving and My boy Michael. Did the usual bait snagging off the cactus on the San Lucas cove spit. Made for Tortuga and fished the whole island from 140 feet out to 400 and totaled for two cabrilla (4-9 pounds) and two yellowtail in high 20 pound class. All fish were caught using live mackerel on the dropper loop with 12 oz. of weight. One Yellowtail came off the Punta Azul 400 foot deep seamount and the other off the PY spot at about 280… fish are deep and likely stay there till December.
Other than that... did see two finning Marlin and one sail (no bites) as well found a good weedline in the right area (6 miles off Isla San Marcos), but nothing on it.
That’s about it I’ll be back at it in mid September at both sides… Cortez and Pacific. Till Then ~
This Is where it starts every morning. For those here... "It's a ghost town at the trailer parks right now" but if you need the worms. 40 feet of water off the cactus (only one there) on the San Lucas Cove spit.

On our way out to Tortuga with the boy.

Was a tuff bite out there... fished just about every spot I know out pass the 150 foot mark. Which on this day was about 8 going 360 degrees around the island. Leopard grouper caught on the GP spot in 180 feet. Did this one and one smaller. It's dinner anyway.

So after a few more test spots.... Piojo Loco gets the first real action. Only down side, bottom where he hooked the fish is at 410 feet. Hope you're not doing anything for a while. And how that all went down.

The only other bite we had came for my son at the PY spot in 280 feet with the dropper loop.

Danny returning the favor with gaffing duty.

Fresh Sushi tonight. That's Danny holding the fish, his son Irving to the right and Bart/Miguel.

Kid said he wanted to hold his fish.... okay lets see.

And I'll be leaving you all with this sunset taken from the west shore of Isla San Marcos...

Well one day is better than none right? See you all soon on both sides. Till Then~
