| Mulege, Santa Rosalia, or Loreto Fishing?
With out Kidjurel keeping us up to date, I'm about to go crazy. I'm headed to Mulege next week and other than the decent report from Mexfish this week, I haven't heard a peep on how things are going? Any one have any reports from Mulege, SR or Loreto? http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/im...hali_nuija.gif |

Yah I know.... not a lot of reports coming fromm down there when I'm not there. It's because not many people are there is all.
I'd say if you get good water.... dorado should be no problem off Mulegé. If you're thinking about Santa Rosalia. Try fishing right in front of the town about 1-7 miles off and or follow a path 3-4 miles off heading north and following the contour of the shore, water's super deep and with the out flow from the squid processing plants discharge.... usually dodos and billfish in the area.
Yellowtail and bottom fish?? off the islands look for commercial pangas in the early morning fishing on the anchor, chances are best in the first few hours of the morning.
Tortuga Island ?? stuff will be out deep and on the bottom. Top water will be billfish... dorado closer to shore, but some strays can be found 1-4 miles off the south eastern side.
Other than that.... good luck on your trip. I'll be calling my deckhand and see if he's been fishing. Never got a charter for July and haven't sent anyone down. Turns into the blackhole of Baja durning this time of year.

Loreto: It's been slow fishing as inshore waters have been cold and green and the blue water has been 30+ miles out, and it's often been bumpy outside. But conditions are improving.
There are dorado but most have been small. Yellowtail are still available on the bottom at some locations.
The "Fishin' for the Mission" tournament is this weekend so there will be lots of boats out, I'll wait until the crowds leave but I'll see what comes in and post it.

I just got back from Punta Chivato Friday 7/13. Was there from June 30. Had lots of wind. The water was green at least 20 miles out. I didn't go any furthere. For being there 2 weeks, we only were able to fish 3 days. Caught 2 dodo's around 12-14 lbs each, male and female. Caught them on the troll. Just blind luck as we found nothing around floating. Then we went inside towards Isla Sant Enez and played with a few Marlin. That was fun, then let them go....see ya! I metered the water at an average of 78 to 82 deg's. The boat just sat in the water moured most of the time waiting for the wind to drop. Alot of beer and tequila consumed in that time. Overcast skies with thunderheads all around. Did some work on the house while waiting.......tic, toc, tic, toc.....humid too!!!
Good luck on your trip. Hope you get blue water.

Darren,
We just got back from fishing four days in Mulege fished with a skipper by the name of Jose Luis, look him up if you don't have one booked already. Anyway fishing overall was good for the billfish our second day out produced 5 dorado 13-18 lbs and the third day we got 13 and lost a few bigger models. Last day was slow with only two dorado and not as many billfish sightings but we did manage a nicer 30 plus pound mahi....... Anyway, I just got back from a 14 hour drive straight through I need sleep in a bad way, I am going to post the pics as soon as their developed, feel free to pm me if you have nay other questions in the interim.

Thanks for all of the posts guys! I am off tomorrow morning for a 10 dayer. Most important part is going to be getting the kids on some fish, which normally isn't a problem in Mulege. What a great bunch of guys on this forum. I'll do my best to figure out how to post pictures and a report when I return. Thanks again.
