Newbie Question - Best Ensenada Fishing Experience

Hi Guys

I'm planning a trip to Ensenada with my OH. Besides a bit of river fishing with my dad as a kid I'm pretty green and other half is definitely emerald!

We really would like to take the opportunity to catch dinner while we are there. Who would you recommend for newbies like us?

What can we expect from the trip? Do all the boats scale and gut the fish?

Anything else you can tell me/recommend?

Why don't you just go down and enjoy Ensenada. Then if you want to go fishing, get on a boat out of San Diego. SD is home to probably best sport fishing fleets anywhere. If you insist on fishing out of Ensenada, got to GORDO's

Re: Newbie Question - Best Ensenada Fishing Experience

I don't think you are going to have a good time with Mexican party boats. Plus bait is a huge problem in Ensenada right now. Maybe by time you go the problem might go away. Best guy in Ensenada for charter is Sammy Susarrey.....tell him Bad Dog sent you. He owns Lily's Sport Fishing try these numbers.......
from U.S. 011526461746747
cell from U.S. 011526461698703
e-mail.....lilyssportfishing@hotmail.com
He has 2 boats.....in great shape and Sammy is a top of the sport fisherman with generations in Ensenada. Both boats parked at Marina Coral....Amigo and Tamara.
Professional operation with a track record of results. They will take you offshore to where the fish are. If you want to go cheapo in a panga....no better than Beta Zamora from the Vonny Fleet....he's the bomb for panga fishing from U.S. 011526461542046 but to fish panga style you need skills which you say you do not have. Also with a panga plan on a major sun burn and only in the Bay fishing. Yellowtail have not shown up in the Bay in large numbers and you need to know how to throw iron as they don't take any live bait as far as I know.

Re: Newbie Question - Best Ensenada Fishing Experience

For 3/4 day trip to the islands I'd recommend Sergios Sportfishing (Phone number in Ensenada is (646) 175-7702) their boats are comfortable and the deck hands helpful. I'm taking out some local kids today, and the deck hands are happy to teach the youngsters. Sergio includes tackle and bait, plus you can bring a cooler, and they help you load and off load, clean your catch. A good operation. Good Luck, and have fun.

Re: Newbie Question - Best Ensenada Fishing Experience

CaliBrit, alright I'm not the only newb here!!!! I do have experience chartering outta Ensenada though.

Ok so I have done the Sergio's sportfishing with Sussarey last year. I took 15 drunks even greener than I and had a blast! We chartered the 55' cazador and through email and phone made sure everything was taken care of. They picked us up at our beach house and filleted everything on the way back. We got to take our own beer and had a pretty decent boat. Make sure you have someone that speaks Spanish. Their English is ok, but you do get more if you understand and speak their language. People were super friendly and all of my buddies had a great time, we partied like mad men in Ensenada afterwards! All in all everything went absolutely perfect except that we scheduled to late in the season for Ensenada (1st weekend of September). This year we are doing the same thing but on the last week of July so I expect/hope to just go nutz!! Here is their website, they also have smaller boats which seem nice. Welcome to Sergio's Sport Fishing Hope this helps!
