Baja Trip 6/16-6/22

I thought I would type less and post more pics. Fishing was down, it was actually COLD on the East Cape. Not cold like Alaska, but you could use a sweatshirt in the morning on the ride out. Not your typical late June weather and the fishing reflected that. They say its not always about the fishing, this trip proved that lesson to me.

Loaded up and ready to go.

No one @ the Imm. office? Walk around back and up the alley, they are in there sleeping, just open the door slowly.

Daytime driving can be dangerous, just be alert. Out of respect for the dead I didnt take any further pics. The Dodge Neon lost, it wasnt a good scene. I cant figure out if the Mexican truck drivers are some of the best or just really lucky.

So what San Diego Bus route goes to El Rosario?

We overnighted @ Buena Ventura on Conception Bay. IMHO its more of a rest stop then a destination. Plenty of secure parking for trucks and trailers, A/C worked. Hardly any sand on the beach, mostly rocks. Lots of "crusties" crawling around. Still a good stop over.

Requeson is still beautiful......

We made it to Verdugos, its always like home for us. We settled in and did some exploring.

Drove out the Rancho Leonero, beautiful place. The nightly rate was a little steep We decided to drive down the beach a bit

Followed the dirt road to Punta Pescadero. We came back on the paved road.

Baja on another level

We drove out past Punta Arena towards Cabo Pulmo, on the beach again.
There were homes out there all by themselves. Private airstrips and Lear jets in the brush. We just wanted to enjoy the beach. Someone dumped bilges and we had to drive for awhile to get away from it, nasty.

We decided to take a Cruiser out.

The weather was very cool the whole trip. Normally the heat will knock you over, not even close this trip. This drop in temperature impacted the fishing. Bait was frozen ballyhoo, unless you made the trip to Cerralvo. Still not much going on, dead by East Cape standards. Roosters were on the smaller side.

We came home a few days early, sister in laws going to give birth soon. I'll add the saved money to my fuel budget for the Wellcraft.

Me and My honey.

Great pic's and post Frank!

Sorry to hear the weather didn't cooperate. Cold at The east Cape this time of year??

Still it sounded like a great family trip.

I still have more questions, talk to ya later.

Looks like you had a great trip. Too bad about the weather. My wife and I have spent many a day on that beach at Punta Pescadero with a cooler of beer and lawn chairs. Can't beat it.

Re: Baja Trip 6/16-6/22

Nice trip man even if the fishing was a bit slow...The photo report is really gives those that have never been down a feel for what it's really like....Finally, someone posted picts of the immigration office, as people are always asking about it. Good advice on opening the door slowly, as those guys are usually out, with heads on the desks, and cutting ZZZZ's. The Dodge Neon scene is unfortunately one of the sights you get to see if you drive the Mex 1 enough...always puts a little lump in my throat and makes me grip the wheel a little harder for a 100 miles or so. Definitely time well spent with the family though, way to go.

Vaya con Dios my Dodge Neon friend!
