Isla San Marcos Fishing Report
05-06-07
Hola BDers~
Short report this week and late too. Funny when up in the states with high speed connections.... hard to sit down and get stuff done in here. Well he's the last day before driving north.
Weather, when I left Tuesday it was cool in the morning and that’s about all I know, cause I’m now in the LA valley. Word has it it’s still pretty much the same as last week and surly some wind too with this big high pressure sitting over So Cal.
Water temps were, 68-70 degrees at Tortuga Island and hit some hot spots between the islands. Getting some 71-72 degree water and another few weeks. Dorado
I fished the one day last Sunday before my trip back north with Alan Lewis. And results were good… had 9 yellowtail and a nice leopard grouper by 10:30 a.m. and it’s all I need for a cooler of fillets for the journey north. Fish were biting fly-lined bigeyes fished with and without sinkers. Had some yacht action out there too. Saw things weren’t going all that good…. Not stopping not catching and I was getting dizzy watching them go back and forth. So came along side and asked if they like some live worms. Answer yes and thank you. Nice sportfisher with the name Kyptonite of San Diego. Owner Dave Williamson along with kids Coel and Ciara also captain/deckhand Danny Grajea all coming over from San Carlos Sonora. They did better on the tails soon as the baits hit the water.
Showing up a little later was my neighbor Daniel Lopez with his 17 Montauk and fellow fisherman, Antonio Pacheco and Sergio Escobedo. Good run for them too… with a total of seven yellowtail and some brown fish too.
Getting everything ready for our 4th Yellowtail ShooutOut Tournament on Isla San Marcos. Till next week~
Some of that days action out at Tortuga Island. Alan Lewis south end tail.... been a while.

Water's clear and shallow (80-140) fish fight harder when they see to objective "ROCKS"

Three Shot sequence of My nextdoor neighbor Daniel Lopez "driving" with his fishing friends Antonio Pacheco "gaff" and Sergio Escobedo. In tight to the cliffs.... bottom looks just like the shore.

Kyptonite action after we dumped some bait on them. Nice Sportfisher

Dave Williamson of San Diego getting bent. And daughter Ciara in the chair.

The end result to a beautiful day. See you all in a week Till Then ~
