Re: SHORE FISHING ON THE WAY TO EAST CAPE

since there have been no responces on areas I will get more specific, i was going to look around san lucas cove, mulege and maybe abrejos on the pacific side. need times off hiway 1 to do trip planning. I would be happy with spotted bass ,corvina, or any other light tackle fish. I wuold be driving a f-250 4x4 so beach access should not be to much of an issue-WOODY

Re: SHORE FISHING ON THE WAY TO EAST CAPE

I have had decent luck at Punta Chivato (so of Santa Rosalia) caught some small roosters from the rocks by the campground. Very cool place.
Have also done well at San Nicholas Bay (so of Conception Bay) This one is harger to get to but worth it. Take dirt road to SN Bay. Travel north once you get to coast area. Look for access to beaches that have rock reefs within casting distance. Croks worked best in the smaller sizes.
Lots of fishing in Estero Coyote and Laguna La Bocana. Not sure if it very fishable from shore. Campo Rene at Coyote rents a alu boat with motor for $40/day. Fish near mangroves with swim baits or black and gold rapala's.

thanks for the info especially about estero coyote, did not know they rented boats and was planning on fishing a few hours here and there as we bounce our way down not staying long enough to rent a panga for a full day-woody

Re: SHORE FISHING ON THE WAY TO EAST CAPE

San Lucas Cove is really shallow, not much in the way of shore fishing. Punta Chivato is good, a little way off Hwy. 1 on a washboard dirt road. Some beutiful beaches along the Bay of Conception, fishing is so-so but the area is hard to pass up. Used to camp at Loc Coco's Playa a lot, good rocks south of the beach towards Los Coyote. A lot depends on what you are driving and how much time you want to spend on dirt roads. I love BOLA, about an hour off Hwy. 1. You can take dirt roads south to Punta San Francisquito and back out to Hwy 1 but it is a LONG haul.
I'm going to be at Punta Colorada from May 23rd-26th, flying into Cabo and renting a car to do some exploring around the East Cape. Will you be there then?

Very cool, I'll look for you down there. When I leave there I'm going to be an "Official Observer" for a Billfish release tournament in Cabo. (WCBFT)
Something a bit different.
