| Tony Reyes 4/16 to 4/20 Report
On 4/16 to 4/20 I went on the Tony Reyes fishing trip out of San Felipe. Our first stop was at the southeast tip of La Guarda for limited Pinto Brass and Carbria. On jigs as no bait was available. I used the rose color butterfly jig for the first time and out fish my two partners who were using blue and white Salas jigs. The second and third day we fished Island Partida and Raza for limits of 12 to 18 pound yellowtail. The largest Yellowtail for the group was a 26 pounder. The hot lure was a pink mirror lure worked best for the yellowtail and the green mac and green firetiger for the Carbria. The blue/white and blue/chrome Salas jr.jigs worked on the surface under the birds school. The fourth day was stared at Punta Remedios to Punta Final for slow fishing of Carbria. We fished this night for large squid. Which some was used as bait. The last day was at Island San Luis for Sierra and Cabria. The Sierra was large I caught a 10.4 pounder. The weather was usually cold as was the water temp and required wearing light jackets. The west wind blew everyday some days harder than the other days which required us to fish the lee side of the islands or in close to shore.
