ensenada critterfest 9/2-3 with pics

went down to the coral for labor day weekend with some family friends. headed out saturday once we got there for a half day of local fishing. headed north to the university point area. found some marks on a stone about 90 feet of water and had pretty much WO fishing. ended up with a grip of brown rockfish, reds, calicos, sandies, a couple small starries and one 22" hali.. i didnt get to fish much as a was being the deckhand pretty much the whole time, but i did anage to nail a couple nice calicos. headed in after about 3 hours of that and over to Mahi Mahi's for an awesome dinner. went to bed early in hopes of making a run offshore sunday. managed to sleep through the alarm until 600. ran over to mikes to pickup bait. already started hearing reports of shitty weather on the outside on the way over. talked to mike and said its not even worth making the run. we dicided to bait up anyways and give it a go. got just outside the island and we were already getting pounded so we opted to turn back and head to the island. there were some reports of some nice yellows around so we tried that for about 2 hours to no avail. headed up to salsipuedes after that. looked around for a while and finally found some really nice structure in shallow with about 25 feet of relief that was loaded. WFO on brown rockfish, fatty sculpin, big whitefish, and a couple bass and treefish thrown in too. did that for a while and then headed out deep in search of some reds and lings. didnt find any lings but we nailed the reds and coppers along with a couple of bocaccios(spelling?) and starries in there too. had all we needed so we headed back in for another awesome dinner at Sano's. overall it was a very good weekend even though we didnt get the pelagics like we wanted. pics on the way, just got to edit them
