Gordo Banks Panga Trip

Read Eric's thread from yesterday; just so happens I'm in cabo this week make a phone call, and I'm on my way. We shoved of at 6:45, got bait and headed out about 45 minutes. Along with 5 other of Eric's Pangas we stopped on the spot. We put in a 30lb and and 80lb outfit. Within about 10 minutes 30lb rig starts screaming. I grab that and bring a 40+ lb fish to color. I then proceed to put on my farmer John Hat and pull the hook:104167739

We reset and a few minutes later next hookup yields a 25lber. 3rd fish rips line off the reel, drags are smoking, that's what were taking about. Finally get it to the boat and it's close to 50lbs. Grab a photo, drink and lines back in the water. Thank God, next fish on the 80lb. Drag that to the boat. Just as I'm getting to color the skip get's bit on the other rod. He gaffs the first fish and promptly hands off the other rod. Ok I could use a drink of water but what the hell this is what I came for. As I'm grinding away on this one the other reel starts singing again. Can I get a break? No i guess not as we excecute the gaff, pass the rod shuffle again. We would practice this manuver 3 times before the end of the morning. At 9:45 I'm toast!
I finish the last fish grab a drink. We fed the last of our bait to the foamers around the boat and bid farwell to the fleet( I counted 32 boats at one time) Were back on the sand at 10:45 AM.

Had a great time Eric, pictures speak for themselves

thanks,

Bob

Re: Gordo Banks Panga Trip

Trips leave betweeen 6-7 depending on the sunrise time. You have a full 6 hours on the water. Pangas are $200 super pangas are $240 (didn't need the super for these fish) You can get all the information and reach Eric through his web site www.gordobanks.com Phone numbers are listed there. He has an 800 # from the states, he also has a local number that I used when I was down there.
As far as the fish I took one of the larger fish with me which I had my hotel cook up for all of us down at the pool for lunch that day. It was awesome! The rest I gave to the skipper, as I wasn't planning on fishing this trip. I didn't have any coolers with me, and I was leaving the next morning. I was planning on catch and release, but marciano said that he could definately use the fish and nothing would go to waste. As it was I told him @ 9:45 that we had plenty and our iceblock that we had in the fish box was getting very small, and I didn't want what we had to go bad.
He has mostly Penn senators on the boats if you don't have your own. I would have loved to have couple of two speed reels so I could have put the hammer down on those things. However I was there and my reels were stateside, so I made do.

Thanks for the hookup on the site.

Congrats on the epic day!
