Isla San Marcos Report 2-24-06

Hola BDers....... sorry for the lateness. Had to drive north right after finishing up on saturday fishing. And now just getting on line here in "The Valley" La La Land...... got lost twice so far driving around....... need a fucking compass and GPS, lighthouses, rocky points, stars, swells, to know where the Hell I am!!

Look it was one hell of a week with so many photos.....

Sorry no story this week..... let the photos and captions tell My Going Out With A Bang...... Back in Mid July~ Enjoy

Starting the week with Kirk Deeter of Field&Stream / Saltwater Sportsman on assignment doing a feature story for SS "Baja's Best destinations" Kirk upping his specie count (first one) with a good eating size Gulf grouper.

The whole rest of the week had this bad ass COMPLETE! fisherman and his buddies from across the country. Here's James "SnookMan" Holdsworth bright and early getting bent while Alex Bisbee of Minneapolis, MN on the stern does the same.

James took his high powered spinners out for a Baja Yellowtail test. Word of note: I've fished with some of the best guys around, but James is the most complete I've every fished with.... guy can tie knots ( Bimini Twist and Cats Paw) so fast and clean looks like a machine did them. here's Alex giving the spinning gear a run..... I even tried it and slammed a big tail on the flyline. Two shot~

Guys, the man is a machine. I don't know what he charges but he is worth it. Fished side by side and we put nothing to speak of in the boat and he stacked them up. I take my hat off to the boy.

Mike, see you next year.

Thanks Guys~ look it's like this....... little differences make the difference. And the fact I fish the same area for the last 15 years don't hurt none Good seeing more and more people coming here. I'll see you Guys next year. ~Mike~

Pro Gear reels are the bomb! I fished the midriffs 2 weeks ago and my Wahoo Special work excellent for trolling and the yo-yo. Only got rocked twice during a week of fishing. Plus all my friends hands were blistered and not mine. Ha ha. Love the padded handles.

Re: Isla San Marcos report 6-24-06

Yup that about sums it up, fished next to Mike the whole week and he put his dudes on the fish We managed about 20 Yellowtail's for four guys for the week we were there. I was the other guy who caught a WSB(about 20#) last week. Dodos were thick. We did enjoy a mid day WFO surface bite on Yellowtail's, iron and fly lined macks got hammered

I was good talkin' to ya Mike, thanks for the bait a week ago Monday. Lookin' forward to the next trip down there
