Talking LA BAY - camp/fish question

hey guys, heading south this friday - kinda last minute but was thinking of a LA BAY stop over on the way down for 2-3 days (looks like the yellows are going good)

so here is the question, don't know shit about the area, been 15 years since I've been there - where would a nice place to stay with camper/rv parking and launch access ??

small boating it 13 ft'er so limited range, where would a good place to stay that might be close to some action ? any advise on where to fish and make some bait would also be appreciated

thanks, mark

Re: LA BAY - camp/fish question

I like Daggets on the road to La Gringa. Heard the road has been paved since I was last there. If you have a tin boat they have a ramp that could handle it. For something biggger Guillermos ramp is only about 2 miles from Daggets.

Re: LA BAY - camp/fish question

alan, thanks for the reply

the time is almost here, probably stop at la bay to break up the drive and then down to juncalito as you had suggested previously

any advise on bait catching areas and depths for this time of year - either location ?

thanks, mark

Re: LA BAY - camp/fish question

Making bait in LA Bay is sometimes tough in the summer. The bait moves around, but usually its within 25 yards of shore on a sand bottom with lucky joes. Watch where the pangueros are making bait first thing in the morning. Safest bet is topwater iron.
