Sorry for the late post but I took a "little" nap by mistake
Nice day, took my buddys boat out this time and got the lines in about 8:15 and cruised south. It was a little rough today but nothing to keep you from going out, just a swell mixed up, actually seemed to calm down a little later on.
Everyone seemed to be live baiting but we stuck with the plastics.
After about 2 1/2 hours we got our first strike and I got my cherry popped with a small striped marlin !!gunz gunz
Got the lines cleared and started to pull him in, the fish was only about 50 lbs but gave us some great tail walking right near the boat, just as Jim was grabbing the leader the fish swam toward the boat and dumped the hook only 5 ft. away
We were going to release him anyway but we both want some nice pictures of him all lit up. Happy anyway just to hook my first one and get a real close look at how fantastic that fish looked tail walking only about 15 ft. away.
We put the lines back out and worked the same area and within 15 minutes we got hit by a Mahi-Mahi but after clearing the short corner (my job) and grabbing the rod he had spit the hook. I did get to see the fish come from the side on top of the water to hit the lure, man what an aggressive move those fish make toward a percieved dinner.
Kept working the area for about another hour with nada and then headed in to wash the boat and hit the schooners at the Harbor house, a little pokey and some grilled Ahi with rice.
both hookups came on the short rigger and a purple jet.
Sorry about not getting any pictures for you
Aloha, Pete
