Aloha #5

Sorry for the late post but I took a "little" nap by mistake

Nice day, took my buddys boat out this time and got the lines in about 8:15 and cruised south. It was a little rough today but nothing to keep you from going out, just a swell mixed up, actually seemed to calm down a little later on.
Everyone seemed to be live baiting but we stuck with the plastics.
After about 2 1/2 hours we got our first strike and I got my cherry popped with a small striped marlin !!gunz gunz

Got the lines cleared and started to pull him in, the fish was only about 50 lbs but gave us some great tail walking right near the boat, just as Jim was grabbing the leader the fish swam toward the boat and dumped the hook only 5 ft. away
We were going to release him anyway but we both want some nice pictures of him all lit up. Happy anyway just to hook my first one and get a real close look at how fantastic that fish looked tail walking only about 15 ft. away.

We put the lines back out and worked the same area and within 15 minutes we got hit by a Mahi-Mahi but after clearing the short corner (my job) and grabbing the rod he had spit the hook. I did get to see the fish come from the side on top of the water to hit the lure, man what an aggressive move those fish make toward a percieved dinner.

Kept working the area for about another hour with nada and then headed in to wash the boat and hit the schooners at the Harbor house, a little pokey and some grilled Ahi with rice.

both hookups came on the short rigger and a purple jet.

Sorry about not getting any pictures for you

Aloha, Pete

Sean,

It was not the "grander" but I guess I'll work up to that.

At first we thought it was another Ono until I got it near the boat and it started tail walking. really cool looking fish but might have been too big for bait....

It is just sinking in just how nice I've got it but every time on the water I look at Jim and almost giggle when I say "You realize how good we have it??"
I keep waiting for my mom to wake me up and tell me its time for school
Whats really cool is I am now dreaming and remembering the dreams where I have not done that for as long as I can remember.

On Monday we had our house blessed by a Hawaiian holy man. It was neat as he walked through the entire house and yard chanting in Hawaiian useing Ti leaves to scatter salt water around. They do this to scare away any bad spritits (sp) and to ask for forgivness from the gods in advance for any wrong things we may do to upset them.
We then did the Hawaiian tradition of EATING lot's of great food with our invited friends.
The "Holy man" was actually Senator Akakas son who works as the cultural director at the Mauni Lani resort. We know him through a friend we made years ago when we first started visiting Hawaii.

Aloha, Pete

Sounds like a great day, Pete.

Sorry I missed you this past August over there, maybe next year. You got closer to your marlin than I did.

Brent

edit: Just remembered you wouldn't know me from here...steelheals from the other board

Full Tilt,

If you get over here just let me know in advance and then we can talk when your here. All it takes is a few hours if that's all you have, shit you can tell her you went to town.

I can go out just about any time and another on the boat is always welcome.

You can go out early and maybe hit some but it really does not matter when. Sometimes the bite starts after lunch or early evening....you never know.

Aloha, Pete

Frank,

Airfare is high until after the first of the year....like $1500 RT !!!!

Inlaws are coming Jan first cause of the price. (don't worry lots of room)

From what I know Jan-Feb is the rougher water months but as always it is day by day and I have not seen a full season yet. I hate not knowing what to expect, be happy once I am here for a season and can tell people first hand info.

Anytime you want....come on out!!!
I will not be able to keep up with the drinking part gunz but it may help get your inflamed swollen brain back to normal size besides that the boat is only 10 minutes away.

After yesterday I was diying to go back out again as the Mahi seem to be showing strong.....sat around waiting for the wireless connection and the bastards call at 10:30 to say Sat AM.....fucking Island time situation
Monday taking out both boys and hope we get them on some Mahi

Aloha, Pete
