| Gordo Banks Report 5/1-5/5
I just got back from 4 days of fishing out of La Playita-Great Weather!Slow Fishing!There are fish there but its very hard to get a bit,lots of red crab on the inner Gorgo.There were a few Wahoo cought by slow troling live bulito or small bonita on inner Gordo and even a couple cought on a hoochi by chance.The bonita and bulito were at the inner Gordo but the tuna were at outer Gorgo,up to 250# or so,I saw the same pangero get them 2 days in a row both over 200#.The trick is to slow troll a bulito(best)or a bonita which were cought and put in a tuna tube to make the run to outer Gordo and he was the only guy that had one hooked up.We had to catch bait and slow troll it all the way out,by the time we got there 1 was hit by a dorado which didn't stick and the other got slammed by a Big Tuna and didn,t stick.We saw a school of 40#er boiling a few times so they are there also.
The next day our pangero Eduardo of Punta Gordo Sportfishing had his Tuna tube hooked up,we were out early 6AM cought 2 bonita ran to outer G saw breaking fish got bit on 1 bait-didn't stick!Ended up getting a Marlin on the second bait-O well still fun.
Word was out and by the time we made it back with our second load of bonita the fleet was all over outer G and the fish dropped out,we did get ripped 1 last time but couldn't get the hook in them.No Tuna wer cought by anyone that day.
I can't wait til they really show,I will go right back on my days off!
Tackle was hoochi's to catch bait,80# fluoro leader,large hooks to troll live bait for wahoo and tuna.There were Dorado cought ever day on troller lures and live bait(anchovy)like a large sardine.Can't wait,we shall see!Dale -Out
