WINDY IN LAS ARENAS BUT YELLOWTAIL BITE HARD FOR OUR LA PAZ ANGLERS - NEXT SHOW - AIRLINE SPECIALS - CRAZY YELLOWTAIL VIDEO - PHOTO OF THE WEEK
SEASONAL WINDS AT ARENAS DON'T STOP THE YELLOWTAIL BITE FOR LA PAZ
Although it was so windy at times this week for our Las Arenas boats that we had to switch folks over to fish the La Paz side, yellowtail really cooperated with fish in the 15-30 pound class. For every hookup, about half the fish couldn't be stopped and rocked the guys taking them into the rocks. Good solid stuff with pargo, snapper, cabrilla and sierra also mixing it up. That's what's good about having boats on both sides. Even though one side might not be so greast, we can usually switch guys over to the opposite side so they can still get a day on the water! On the days when we could fish at Las Arenas, it wasn't all that bad either...pargo up to 30 pounds (pargo lisa) and huachinango (snapper) were the primary catch, but sierra were still willing to bite when the schools slashed through
WHALE WATCHING
Normally by now, the whales at Mag Bay have pretty much done with us and started their migrations back up to the chilly Bering Sea near Alaska. However, this year, they've stuck around a bit long providing some great adventures for some of our guests. Perry and Emma Lee Coy visited us from Clovis this week and wrote back:
"Jonathan, We Had a great trip to La Paz! The whale watching tour to Mag Bay was GREAT. We were able to get so close to the gray whales and their calves, that we got spray on us when they surfaced. It was a long day but well worth it.
My wife Ree and I also went fishing the next day, and caught three nice yellowtail 25 to 33 lbs each at El Bajo. They sure can put up a fight. I have not caught yellowtail that big since I was a kid in the 60's. Thanks for the great service. Perry Coy " NEXT SHOW IN SALT LAKE CITY
A little over a week ago we finished up the big Fred Hall Fishing Show in Long Beach. This past week, I had a great time doing presentations to the guys at the Pasadena Turner's Fishing Club and then jammed up north to the Santa Barbara Yacht Club Fishing Club's meeting as well. Met some great folks and had a great time.
At this moment, however, I'm on my way to the show at the International Sportsman's Expo in Salt Lake City. This show will be our last of the 2006 tour and is always a great one. It's actually just outside of SLC in the city of Sandy in an incredible facility and it's always well attended. Show dates are March 16-19th so I hope if you're in the area, you come on down to say hi.

WACKY YELLOWTAIL VIDEO
I never knew they fished for yellowtail in S. Africa, but check out this great video clip sent by Joe "Pineapple" Carigcungan of Oxnard. It's yellowtail chasing skip jigs on the surface...

Louie-Louie...Louis Weiss and Brad Louie from Orange Co, California were fishing off our cruiser, Black Magic and did pretty nicely on the forkie yellowtail. Sweet fillets! They busted off a fish or two that they could never stop as well.
That's my story!
