I know you stay at the Serinidad Hotel. I wonder if you could hook up with Kid Jurel. What up, Kid?

Re: mulege

When are you going? For Mulege I would definitely stay at the Serenidad.

Don't forget your tourist card. They are checking them at Guererro Negro plus a $2 charge to spray the outside of your vehicle for bugs

What can I say about the drive? It's Baja Hwy 1! Narrow, no shoulders, big trucks and drop dead beautiful.

Re: mulege

The Serenidad's good and Alex is your man for the fishing dope.

We take a small chest freezer and plug it in in the room. Freeze water and Gatorade for the boat and keep our fish in. The launch ramp is real shallow and you have to watch your meter closely on the way out.

Two for the last three trips it has been windy down there for us(June/July) Fishing has been pretty good for us though for Marlin and Dorado.

Re: mulege

If you're looking for a motel with a panga type boat in Mulege, the advice above is where to go. Just north of Mulege is the town of Santa Rosalia. They have a new motel there that AFRY recently stayed at and kept his boat across the street at the marina. He said the rooms were great and $60 and mooring was only $15. The roads are just scary are hell. I always close my eyes when Wayne who is pulling his 16' runabout comes within inches each time a large truck or motorhome goes by. Other than that the roads are in remarkably good shape. Just narrow. Next year is my turn to pull my Cabo 216 down.

Four of us ole farts are heading south of Mulege 3/15 about 15 miles to spend our annual 10 days on Conception Bay. We stay at Ecomundo. It's camping on the beach where you park your boat in the water feet from your campsite. Ecomundo is situated on a peaceful cove and does not allow motorhomes, jetskis, engine generators, i.e. noise with no electricity. It comes with a 30' round open palapa with a long brick table in the middle with a builtin BBQ for $20 a day. We park our tents around this large party area. We bring two 125 qt coolers one with ice (frig) the other with 100 lb dry ice (freezer). Our menus at nite include, rack of lamb, wild salmon, scallops, ribs, filet mignon and a few others that escape me at the moment. We also horded 45 fine bottles of cabs, melots and zins over the past year to go with our gallon or so of rum and other stuff (get in Mulege) with a stop at the local deposito for 6 cases of Pacifico which we replenish once or twice. Ecomundo also has a open palapa restaurant with all three meals. We fish 2-3 times a day in Conception Bay mainly for taco bass, snappers and triggerfish for ceveche. I bring about 6 lbs of squid which i buy fresh at an asian market and freeze in sandwich size ziplocks. That way I only take one at a time from our freezer. I'm bringing my slow trolling setups to look for halibut and other larger species this year. We rent a boat out of Mulege at least once to take us to the local reefs south of the bay for Yellowtail and grouper action just to stock up on some fish to help feed the local campers that seem to congregate around our campsite each nite. These reefs have much less fishing pressure than the ones north of Mulege. Conception Bay is one of the most beautiful wonders of the world just not mexico. Four guys, no women, let me rephrase that no wives, kids, phones, tvs. Just a quiet and peaceful experience. Anyone in the area please drop by and share a glass of wine with us 3/16-22. Just go to the the only lit up campsite with the sounds of guitars, singing and laughter. It's the next site south of Santispac. http://www.innerexplorations.com/sim...t/ecomundo.htm

We always pick ours up at the border (San Yisidro). Park on the U.S. side and walk over to the Mex. side. Right as you go through the turn-styles there is a building for tourists stuff. You pay at one window and get your tourist card at another. You can aslo get them at the Mex consulate down by Horton Plaza, but their hours are REALLY strange!

I don't believe that you will need the tourist card for checkpoint at the turn-off for BoLA (we were not asked to show one last Nov.), but that may have changed.
