Leaving Sept. 30th fishing Gordo Banks Pangas

Heading down to San Jose del Cabo for a 5 day stay at the Crown Plaza and will be fishing (weather permitting) 3 days with Gordo Banks Pangas. I was wondering if anybody here has experience in fishing with that charter service and what feedback you have.

I would prefer to travel light and use their gear, but I have no idea what to expect. Besides, I'm not comfortable with checking in thousands of dollars worth of precious tackle. Are they running ancient Penns with 3 season old line on it or is their gear newer and up to par? I do plan to carry down lures (all sorts), hooks, weights, etc, etc....

Any help is appreciated!

Email Eric and ask him, he's a Malibu guy, friend of our family, as nice a guy and good a fisherman as they come.

He will tell you anything and everything you want to know.

I did e-mail him, but I wasn't sure how long it might take him to respond. I also wanted some unbiased opinions from other guys that have been there, done that.

Thanks for the response!

I've fished with Eric, but I have always brought my own gear. Eric is a first class guy. He usually posts reports, so he is on the computer quite often. I doubt it will take long for him to get back to you.

Eric hooked us up with a boat down there in july. Eric is more of a broker i think. The guy that ran La Leona Sportfishing name is Julio Zumaya. You can skip the eric tax and call him directly. I got a cruiser the first two days and it was 340. I got one without contacting eric for 275. The boat tres hermanos was the best i think. Right now the bite is dead off the beach for the yellowfin and its only about 10-20 miles to the gordo bank.

Re: Leaving Sept. 30th fishing Gordo Banks Pangas

Leaving tomorrow and excited as hell!!

I guess the weather is cooperating and so are the fish. WFO at times on schoolie Yellow Fin Tuna (15-40#) with dorado (8-40#) mixed in. I guess wahoo are starting to get more active too.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a good trip with Dad. He's never done the saltwater thing and we have NEVER been able to do something like this together before. Maybe we'll get him tied into a nice sail or marlin?
